David Sokol is the author of the book The Noble Room which gives a historical perspective of Wright’s process in designing and building Unity Temple, as well as the life of the congregation that hired him. To complement our blog, we are adding a video series titled “Unity Temple Talks with David Sokol” with short videos highlighting features from the book.
In this video, David revisits the Unity Temple congregation’s testimonial after the 1909 dedication of the building. As David writes, none of the previous praise of the building “matched the eloquence, directness, and prophetic recognition of the importance of the new building as well as the [Unity Temple] board of trustees’ resolution of thanks that was adopted at the annual meeting following the dedication.”
